Dusk melts seductively
Into soft velvet
Night
Now darkness descends
Expectation
Revives
Forever, I’ll long to hold you again
On this date when I
Remember
This is our special night
When I set the table, anticipating, longing for you
Oh, I will always be longing for you.

The image shows a table set for two people. The location seems to be outdoors, in an alley.
Very enticing, Chris 🙂

Nicely done and I love the ending. “I will always be longing for you”. I feel that way about my husby.

I love this poem for the reasons others have mentioned. I usually don’t go for acrostics, but you do them exceptionally well. Brava!

That’s such a lovely compliment, Liz. Thank you! I have to say that I feel that penning an acrostic is a bit of a cheat, being more like a crossword to complete. Still, they’re good for ‘mental gymnastics’ – a phrase much used by my Latin teacher.

I enjoyed this poem, Chris. I am always pleased to find another South African blogger. I only know four (including you) that actually still live in South Africa.

Thanks, Robbie, I pleased you enjoyed.
I agree, it’s good to connect with someone else in South Africa, especially a fellow author. 🙂

I can picture this scene in several circumstances…
A little sad and haunting, but also perhaps hopeful in remembering better times.

Although not so good for getting one’s novels recognised (or so I’m told). Not that I’m too concerned. I write because I enjoy it!

You are right. Sometimes you have to write in same genre, or create a pen name for the others. I’ve heard it also. But I’m sure some break out of that.

Like one of my favourite authors, Margaret Atwood. Not that I’m comparing myself to her 😉

She’s a good example! Keep writing your way, I think. Nobody else can ever tell a story like you but you!
