a flash of light
then darkness
my moon, my wonderful moon
where is she?
her name is Selene
and she’s captivating
she can be huge, and brilliant
or far, far away
but she’s always mine
but now she’s red, blood red
is she angry?

Picture # 1 shows:
Total lunar eclipse 3/14/25, showcasing the captivating reddish glow of a blood moon against the dark night sky. Just a bit of white at the top! The stars dot the black background on a very clear night!

Not angry at you, just incensed by what ‘humanity’ is doing to her beautiful planet.

Of course, I thought so. It’s very sad for the Earth and that lovely Moon.

NO, not angry — it’s a time to release what no longer serves you. New beginnings. ❤️

Ah yes, I can see her now. Then a couple of weeks later, she will be reborn again. Delightful.

A beautiful poem Chris. Moon is your special friend, even it appears in your blog name. How could it be angry at you. Thank you for joining in.

Aww, thanks Sadje. A name is often useful in a blog – it might be a moon or it might be a little cat!

It can fit the occasion. Now it’s the moon 🌕 and at other times, the cat 🐈⬛

The man in the moon must be distressed by the state of affairs on Earth! Love the poem, Chris! 🌝

Very sad for that man on the moon – shame for him and shame for all of us.

Chris, this feels quietly tender and a little haunting. I really like how it captures longing in such a simple, intimate way.

Chris I loved the personification and the claiming her for your own… we always want to lay claim but some things cannot be contained!! Anger? No I rather think disappointment!

It is unfortunate that the red – is just atmospheric. And that lovely luna is indeed moving just a tad further away from terra ferma. So lovely to see her full…Maybe the red was just deep blushing pink?
“April’s full moon is called the Pink Moon. This name comes from the pink wildflowers that often bloom in early spring, particularly the creeping phlox. Other names for this full moon include the Breaking Ice Moon, Budding Moon, Awakening Moon, Egg Moon, and Paschal Moon.”

Thank you for telling me that – very useful, although it’s a bit different in the southern hemisphere. Still good to do a few poems about those – I will write those down.

she might be angry when she hears that the asteroid that had a slight chance of hitting us now has a chance of hitting the moon ❤️
