Love Story

It was love
at first sight
blood rushed
to my head
I sidled up
she looked away
modest, not brazen
I ’specially
liked that
about her.

I teased her
just a little
strutting
so street-wise
then cooing
sweet nothings
offering
tiny titbits
’til one day
she accepted.

Now and
forever
she is
the love
of my life.*

Your light still shines

In the calm of the evening
walking on wet sand
the soft scratch of silica
caresses my naked feet

I lift my face skywards
tasting the salt-laden breeze
sharpened by thyme-scented air
filtering from hushed hillsides

As the sun slips into the ocean
bronze and crimson flares flash
across the rolling cobalt waves
soon swallowed into darkness

Resting on a sea-smoothed rock
my feet wetted with cool water
I flare a sulphurous match
touching it to the lantern’s wick

A pool of golden light
fills the darkness of my heart
as I remember the evenings
when you were still here.

Purple Prose

Like luminous petals falling
Over lush green lawns your
Violet verses float down in
Eloquent abundance.

Love-filled lyrics pervade the ether
Elegant stanzas resonate with rhyme
Tantalising texts torment my senses
Tempting cantos seep into my soul
Eternal love spills from your pen while
Rhythms of ecstasy permeate my heart.

The image shows an envelope hanging by a white thread. In the background there is a house entrance
.

It is time

The image shows an hour glass sitting on a small table. The sand has run through the glass. Two hand are reaching for it from opposite ends.

Leave it now, my love

I’ve had my three score years and ten

Soul mates, we’ll meet again

in time.

.

Don’t reach out, my love

Leave me be, let me go ahead

I’ll see you there, you know

the place.

.

Let me rest, my love

My heart may still, but not my soul.

You and I will be one

again.

Night time lover

For visually challenged reader, the image shows a castle at night, it’s turrets and towers reflecting moonlight. A cloudy sky can be seen in the background.

Dressed in alabaster skin, I wait
beneath the unctuous black blanket of night.

Moonlight casts lascivious shadows
as I slide inside your cloak.

Moonlight illuminates your lurid lips
as I yield to dark desire.

Come morning, sunlight snatches you away
yet still you slide over my skin.

Until the next time
when darkness comes again.

Beneath these branches

The image shows a young girl standing next to an old sprawling tree in a park. There is an empty bench in front of her.

Little girl tiptoes round the tree
Once I was a girl, just like she
All tousled hair and sun-kissed limbs
I wonder, what became of me?

A life well-lived, a love fulfilled
Time ticked away, my heart was stilled.
But watch, my love, and wait for me
to tiptoe round that self-same tree.

That morning

Tthe photo shows a man, on a pier, in a carefree swinging movement. A body of water is visible in the background.

You danced for me
early that morning
when you walked me home
from the party.

Dawn was breaking,
early morning sun
shone over the river.
Your steps were so light,
we were both so free.

Now you dance no more.
But I at least still have that
early morning memory.

Together we are strong

wdys 24 the picture shows a neon sign with the words You Are Here in the background a view of city lights

In that darkest hour
just before dawn
when night-time terrors
clutch my heart

You are here.

In black-dog moments
when tears well up
and despair’s dark hands
wrench me apart

You are here.

When sunbeams stream forth
as storm clouds part
and laughter and song
fill my heart

You are here.

And we will survive
this troubled world
because together, my love
we are strong.

Until we meet again

what do you see 20 by chris hall lunasonline

Wherever you go, know
I will watch out for you.

No, don’t look back!
Your future lies ahead.

Live it out, live it well
Be free, be happy!

Don’t turn around!
You’ll break the spell.

Know, my love
that I will be waiting

Until we meet
on the other side.

Gone

what do you see 16 by chris hall lunasonline

My love, how did I come to lose you?

You, the one to whom
I cleaved my heart, my soul

for all time.

Just a trace of you remains:
a hint of your scent in the clothes
you
left behind.

Come back my love, so I can hold you again.
